During an event, orientation is what counts.
We prepare existing CAD drawings for WinGuard. A clear structure helps to understand areas and detectors in the right spatial context. Scroll on: a busy construction drawing becomes an operator graphic.01 Visualisation
From existing drawings to operator graphics.
A plan for building documentation has different tasks from a graphic for event handling. The WinGuard display should help with orientation, assignment and action.
Made for planning.
Different plan versions, many layers, dimensions, furniture and labels. All correct, but too much during an event.
Made for emergencies.
An agreed structure, relevant areas and clear assignment. Your team immediately sees where something is happening and how to get there.
What WinGuard can do with CAD drawings
Which import or linking function is used depends on your WinGuard configuration. Modules according to the licence model, as of 03/2023.
02 Structure
From site to detector.
The graphics structure is designed to suit the building and the operating concept. That way your team navigates in a few clicks from the overview to the triggering detector.
03 Approach
A usable basis.
A technical drawing becomes an orientation aid in the workflow when overview, level of detail, navigation and data points fit together.
Discuss floor plan preparation →Check plan quality
File format, units, geometry, labels and how current they are. Which plans apply, which are outdated?
Clean up layers
Hide everything that does not help during an event. Rooms, walls, access points and labels remain legible.
Plan for operation
Define overview, level of detail and navigation: which graphic opens for which event?
Assign data points
Put detectors, doors and cameras in their place, manually or, with the right module, automatically.
Test during an event
Is the location right, does the correct graphic open, is the access route clear? We test with real messages.
Questions
Questions about floor plans.
Which CAD formats does WinGuard support?
WinGuard can display and import DWG, DXF and DGN graphics and control their layers (CAD Support module). With CAD Support plus, detectors can also be linked automatically.
Our plans are not up to date. Does it still work?
Yes, but it is part of the clarification. Together we check which plan versions apply and mark what needs to be confirmed on site before detectors are assigned.
Why not simply use the construction drawing?
A construction drawing documents the building completely. During an event, however, your team needs location, access and context quickly. Too many details then cost time.
How many graphics does a data point need?
That depends on the operating concept. WinGuard allows up to five graphics per data point, for example site overview, floor and detail view.
The next step
Which plans do you have?
DWG, DXF or DGN, for which buildings and floors? Briefly describe your existing drawings and we will estimate the effort.
